Part 243s – Smith Robertson Genealogy – Indenture Research – 1831 James Smith

22 March 2010

Afternoon,

Continuing with the Transcription Project the next Record is one dated 10 May 1831 and entered to the Grenada Registers of Records 21 May 1831. The James Smith concerned, along with John Sly, are being assigned Power of Attorney by James Thomas, a Wine Merchant of London on behalf of the estate of his deceased, elder brother John Thomas.

The inserted image is of the Wine Vaults, at the London Docks, east of St. Katherine's Docks, and were constructed in 1805.

As the time frame between execution and entry of the Record is short it can be postulated that the actual assignment occurred in Grenada. It could be possibly ascertained that there is a greater probability that this may be ggg-grandfather James Smith. But, from the Document there is no further indication of ggg-grandfather James’ ancestry or genealogy.

The Record is pages 553 and 554 of the Grenada Registers of Records and the images are downloaded from Item 7 of the microfilm FHL [1563329].
