Part 423j – Smith Robertson Genealogy – 1753 Marriage – Pierre Jully and Madeleine Vaurigeau – Additional Transcription

18 December 2010

Afternoon,

Thank you Yann. Your efforts at transcribing our ancestors’ documents certainly assist your Anglophone cousins.

The first one is the 23 October 1753 marriage registration of our 5-times great-grandparents Pierre and Madeleine (née Vaurigeau) Jully. My first presentation is in Part 420j.

Just an FYI and for the notes, I just discovered that the maiden name of ggggg-grandmother Madeleine was more than likely Vaurigeau, and possibly Vaurigeaud. I came upon an Index from the Parish Registers of Sainte-Marie de Sarlat, as microfilmed to FHL [1415457] which appears to list what looks like both Vaurigeau and Vaurigeaud. There are no Baurigeaus. I’m not ruling that the spelling of the surname is correct. I am saying that what appears seems to be the script of the writer when I try to transcribe the same.

In the Index I did find an entry for a Baptism of one Magdelaine Vaurigeaud dated 17 March 1716. Is this the Acte de Naissance of ggggg-grandmother Madeleine Vaurigeau? Don’t know. I’ll have to search some more.

Here is Yann’s transcription -

And here is an immediate attempt at a translation, using Google Translate –

October 23, 1753 celebrated the betrothal, and the three banns duly published without any impediment which appeared ais no opposition between Pierre Jully son of Pierre and Margueritte Escoubeyrou of the village the Maleyale (?) small parish of one hand and Madeleine Baurigeau daughter of the late Pierre and Jeanne Delot of Madraset (?) small parish? I gave them the nuptial blessing according to the ceremonies of the church attended by Jean Brivé, Antoine Gretieres?, Pierre Merly, and Jean Malvez who have signed up to do except the said Merly. The parties have had to sign.

Another point of note is that it appears that gggggg-grandfather Pierre Delot had passed away prior to the marriage registration dated 23 October 1753.

And so I continue,

Jim

Bon après-midi,

Merci Yann.

Un autre point à noter est qu'il semble que la Grande-arrière-arrière-arrière-arrière-arrière-grand-père, PierreDelot était décédé avant l'enregistrement du mariage, en date du 23 Octobre 1753.

Et si je continue,

Jim
